Installed in our little shop now are CLEVELAND encaustic image blocks! Prior to the Cleveland blocks were Suzanne’s Tokyo influence blocks while she was teaching there but it’s such a neat concept for photographers and photography lovers that I thought Cleveland shots would be a lovely addition to anyone’s home who’s an avid, Cleveland lover. She was mentioned this month on iheartcleveland.com’s blog in which they featured “13-days of Giveaways” during December, and one of her blocks were included in the project. I’m thinking about the “Cocoa, Milk, Sugar” block for myself, just because it’ll be a reminder to get my cocoa fix at my favorite Malley’s location on my way to work every day!
Each four framed acrylic paintings are now available at NATIVE for the holidays:

“I am a Cleveland native, Tremont resident and 2010 BFA Visual Communication Design graduate from Kent State University. I’ve been painting since 2005 and have shown in multiple venues in Ohio since 2007. As an artist, I have always been drawn to the allure of Street Art, the directness of Pop Art and the honesty of the found object. My current artistic intent centers around the representation of cultural icons in a flattened impressionistic painterly approach. I choose objects that either I have shared a history with, or have a strong social context. Ultimately, I have no defined prerequisites for image creation although, color and shape will ultimately dictate my judgement. “
NATIVE will be making a batch of hot apple cider for this Saturday’s “Walk All Over Waterloo”. It’ll warm you right up while you shop and we’re pouring cups ’til it’s gone!
For more information about the event, please check out the Waterloo Arts District events page on Facebook-here

Prints are $60.
“Jennie Ossentjuk began spending time regularly in Cleveland via visits with her best friend, an Ashtabula native, and instantly fell in love with the friendliness and fun atmophere she found. During a Thanksgiving family trip in 2010, Jennie felt that photographing the city in Black and White really brought out the quiet mellowness of late autumn when a chill was in the air and the beloved landmarks and vistas were a nice contrast to the summer excitement which brought so many to the waterfront. “
